To ensure optimum grid reliability
The challenge for grid operators today is to send the optimum amount of electricity through the grid lines at all times. This amount is influenced by a number of factors, including climatic conditions such as wind, temperature and solar radiation. If the overland cables heat up due to external factors, the distance to the ground (safety-relevant issue) on the one hand and the transmission capacity on the other hand decrease.
In complex studies, specially polluted hot spots along a route are identified and monitoring stations are set up. These weather stations are used to record values for wind speed, wind direction, temperature, relative humidity and, if required, global radiation.
On the basis of these data, among other things, the voltage fed into the grid is controlled and the use of the grid is optimised.
Also possible with mains supply. We will be happy to advise you!
