Solutions for climate change and rising water demand
Farmers around the world need to use water and energy more efficiently than ever to protect their crops and the profitability of their farms. This means that precise irrigation is crucial, especially in light of increasing water regulations and the growing risk of frost. While automated irrigation systems are already standard in many greenhouses, irrigation in open fields is often still done manually, based on experience or intuition, which can lead to over- or under-irrigation.
Although many farmers have weather stations and moisture sensors that could improve the precision of their irrigation measures, the data from these devices is often fragmented or difficult to access. For this reason, LAMBRECHT has entered into a partnership with the INBW project at Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences—to improve irrigation and general weather preparedness for farmers worldwide.

With over 10,000 students, Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Lower Saxony. Over 90 practice-oriented degree programs are offered at four locations. The INBW research project aims to develop solutions to the challenges facing agriculture in the context of climate change.
